Bangles Back in Business

Bangles are likely to be one of the fashion industry's big talking points this summer, as fashionistas experiment with various combinations of materials and sizes.

According to an Associated Press report, bangle devotees are wearing them in stacks, creating a "jingle-jangle or clickety-clack" sound as they walk.

Platinum - which is of the jingle-jangle variety - is particularly popular among those who like their bangles.

At the 79th Academy Awards, for example, beautiful blonde actress Gwyneth Paltrow chose a collection of platinum bangles by Fred Leighton, which stylishly complemented her peach period-style dress.

Usually, however, bangles are used in a more flirtatious and light-hearted manner, with clothes that convey a sense of fun and frivolity.

Linda Renk, co-founder and co-designer of jewelry company Sequin, told the Associated Press: "Clothing always dictates accessories and, this season, the clothes are fun."

It bodes well for lovers of bangles, who will seemingly have a great opportunity this summer to display them to the world.

Platinum bangles tend not to be cheap, however, so buyers should be prepared to pay a reasonable amount of money if they are looking for a quality item. Blue Nile stocks a simple and stylish solid platinum bangle that sells for $875, for example.

At the 58th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards, Angela Kinsey from NBC's The Office wore a platinum bangle by Erica Courtney, which was priced at around $28,000. Expensive perhaps, but the eye-catching combination with platinum and diamond studs meant she stole the show on the red carpet.
